POTS Is Still A Big Play for Birch

One of our biggest successes at Birch has been our POTS and Backup DSL services for SMBs.  It’s what we’re most known for in the channel, and for good reason. In recent years we’ve evolved and adapted to the demands of IT organizations with the addition of cloud services and VoIP, like the release of our UCCaaS product TotalCloud® PBX, to our already robust solution portfolio.  But we're still a POTS aggregation powerhouse.  Here's an overview of a case study for a recent enterprise POTS deal we won.  You can get the full POTS aggregation case study here

Customer Overview: Prominent  Fortune 500 retailer with 3,657 analog voice lines (POTS) spread across 535 retail stores.  The POTS lines were used for mission critical applications like POS (Point of Sale), alarms, and redundancy.

Business Challenge: The business challenge posed by the customer was to reduce the cost and complexity of the network, create efficiencies in management, and provide a better and unified experience for internal stakeholders.

Challenges: The customer had over ten disparate providers and did not have a centralized or up-to-date inventory of their lines.  The scale of the network was a challenge in itself, and because of the mission critical nature of the lines, the implementation had to be smoothly executed without disruption to the stores.

Approach: Birch planned to aggregate the company’s disparate voice services, bringing as many locations on-net as possible and leveraging rebilling agreements with other LECs for off-net locations.  Due to the size of the opportunity, the customer would receive the Birch Elite Gold Experience to ensure a smooth transition and with an ongoing white-glove service.

Solution:  The solution was a simple billing change to the customer, but the execution was orders of magnitude more complex. The partner leveraged Birch to perform the consulting and back office work.  An assessment of the current network and vendor contracts was conducted by Birch, then a baseline of costs, performance, and inventory was established.   The Birch Elite Gold implementation team developed and executed a strategy to provision, port, and turn-up batches of locations so as to maintain order, mitigate risks, and not overwhelm the retailer’s internal staff.

Business Outcome: By aggregating their POTS and offering aggressive rates, the customer realized over $300,000.  They also have streamlined their internal processes for network management, invoice management, support, and escalations.  The Birch customer portal helps them keep their inventory up to date and empowers their staff to manage locations proactively.

If you've got enterprise or SMB customers that could benefit from POTS aggregation services like this customer did, partner with Birch!
